Dinner With a Side of Tango
The culture of Argentina comes alive in more ways than one at Artango Bistro next week. The zesty Latin-American haunt is hosting a "Taste of Tango" event on March 26, a three-course dinner adjoined by performances by some of Chicago's top Argentine tango dancers. Food-wise, expect items like bife de chorizo and salmon de pasion, attuned to choreographed tango dancing show authentic and lively you'll feel as if you've magically been whisked away to Buenos Aires for the evening. The cost for the event is $45 per person and reservations are required. It all starts at 7:00 p.m.
Tiki Tutorial at Lush Wine and Spirits
Tiki is so hot right now. As evidenced by red-hot tiki bars like Three Dots and a Dash and Lost Lake, we're in the midst of a major tiki cocktail revival. Here to help tackle and navigate the trend is cocktail maven Adam Seger, who will lead a tiki cocktail class at Lush Wine and Spirits in West Town on March 25. As guests sip on Polynesian-inspired beverages, they'll learn how to make the "bottomless tiki punchbowl." It's the perfect opportunity to escape the throes of Chicago winter while mastering your own interpretations of tiki lore and tasting your way through a miscellany of libations. Lush will also provide a spread of snacks. The event runs from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. and the cost is $40 per person. Reservations are required.
Raise a Glass to Summer House Santa Monica's Cocktail Dinner
In case that isn't enough cocktail for you for one night, Summer House Santa Monica is hosting a cocktail event of its own on March 25. Featuring FEW Spirits and North Shore Distillery, the special event serves to showcase local spirits along with the seasonally minded, fresh cuisine of chef Jeff Mahin. It all begins with a reception at 6:00 p.m., followed by a four-course meal paired with cocktails. The cost is $75 per person and reservations can be made by calling the restaurant.
Farm.Butcher.Table at The Radler
In more altruistic news, The Radler plays host to St. Louis' FarmHaus and Farm.Butcher.Table on March 24 for a special charitable event. Both restaurants have partnered with Farm.Butcher.Table, a venerable team of heritage breed Mangalitsa pig farmers, for the event to curate a four-course meal with drinks provided by Lagunitas Brewing and Chicago Distilling Company. Proceeds from the event — tickets are $65 per person — go to Farm.Butcher.Table's 2015 charity partner, Growing Home Inc. The event kicks off with a cocktail hour at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner. Make reservations by calling The Radler.
