Meet the Meaty STEAKLOCKER

Dry-aged steaks are a timeworn American tradition that rarely undergoes progression or change. Why try to fix something that isn't broken? But every now and then, progress is made in other ways, like by taking the dry-aged steak template and adapting it for at-home applications. STEAKLOCKER is breaking new ground in the meat realm, as evidenced by the fanatic response to the company's Kickstarter campaign and its recent reception at the International Home and Housewares Show at McCormick Place here in Chicago.

Chicago isn't lacking in dry-aged steak supremacy. Places like Chicago Chop House, Erie Cafe, Mastro's Steakhouse, and Gene & Georgetti are among the myriad of destinations to get a good piece of dry-aged steak in this steak-happy town. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. So it goes without question that Chicagoans are keen on anything steak-related, including innovative new features and gadgets that allow them to play "steak chef" in the comfort of their home. STEAKLOCKER is just such an invention.

STEAKLOCKER is the first of its kind, an appliance that enables dry-aging of steaks and charcuterie at home. It functions as a smart fridge, mobile app included, that allows users to automate dry-aging techniques or even control every aspect of the aging process themselves. The steaks sit for thirty days, letting the biology of the temperature-controlled aging process do the rest, tenderizing the muscles and enriching the meat.

The appliance made its grand debut at McCormick Place's International Home and Housewares Show (IHHS), where the San Diego-bred invention saw its culmination from successful Kickstarter campaign to fully realized sensation, equipped with the unique capabilities of combining luxury, science, and a restaurant-caliber experience at home.
