Weekday Planner: National Chili Day, Slow Coffee, La Stoppa Wine Dinner
National Chili Day at Chicago q
Just in time to warm our frigid bones, National Chili Day takes place February 26. Take heed, because Chicago q is offering their signature Kobe brisket chili at a special price for the meaty holiday. At lunch and dinner, cups of chili will go for $5 and bowls will be $10. Chef Lee Ann Whippen's chili is made with Kobe brisket, Italian sausage, and ground beef along with cornbread croutons and sour cream. Get hungry.
Slow Coffee
Slow Food Chicago, one of Chicago's preeminent organizations championing food that is good, clean, and fair, is starting up a new Slow Drinks series with a Slow Coffee event on February 26. Taking place at Passion House Coffee Roasters from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., the event teaches attendees all about roasting coffee at home, latte art, the craft of "cupping," and more. Tickets are $15 and available here.
La Stoppa Wine Dinner
The next leg in Ceres' Table wine dinner series makes a stopover in Italy's Emilia-Romagna region with the wines of La Stoppa winery. The dinner takes place on February 25, featuring a five-course menu and winery representative Nico Sciackitano. The menu includes prosciutto pizza, braised cuttlefish, tortelli in veal and pork bone broth, pork loin, almond cake, and more. The cost is $95 per person and dinner begins at 6:30 p.m.
