Weekend Planner: Chili Cook-offs and The NOSH Heads Indoors

Chili Cook-offs Aplenty!

'Tis the season for all-you-can-eat chili cook-offs apparently, as two big ones are on their way this weekend.

Chili Fest
(All the chili this weekend)

Bucktown Pub

The first takes place November 7 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Bucktown Pub, the classic neighborhood bar recently acquired by Footman Hospitality. The second annual event features various chilis from the likes of Haymarket Pub & Brewery, Bangers & Lace, Jane's, Frontera, and more. For $10 in advance or $15 at the door, guests can sample as much as they'd like and vote for their favorites. Tickets may be purchased here, with proceeds benefitting the Midtown Center.

Wicker Park Chili Cook-off

Next, Moonshine hosts the 6th Annual Wicker Park Chili Cook-Off on November 9. Featuring both amateur home cooks and pro chili chefs, the fest takes place from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. All sorts of chilies will be on hand, running the gamut of meats, beans, and flavor profiles. The public serves as the judges, wherein they get to sample the chilies and cast their votes for best chili in show. Of the 16 contestants, one will go home with a Gilded Ladle Trophy and a bunch of cash ($600 specifically). Second and third place also get cash prizes.

The NOSH Heads Indoors

Everyone's favorite artisanal food market is heading indoors for the season again, as The NOSH once again partners with Logan Square Farmers' Market for an indoor run in the 'hood. Now held every Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., The NOSH has set up shop in the bygone Pierre's Bakery space at 2755 N. Milwaukee Ave, featuring an indulgent array of over 40 vendors. Food purveyors include Pecking Order, Mixteco Grill, Demera Ethiopian Restaurant, and Dia De Los Tamales. There will also be a live band to keep the moods spirited.
