Brunch Bites: Sage Kitchen + Bar and Q-BBQ

In this week's batch of brunch bites, Sage Kitchen + Bar debuts new brunch service and Q-BBQ adds the weekend meal to its repertoire in Lakeview.

Sage Kitchen + Bar
(Sage Kitchen + Bar)

Live piano music and brunch go together like coffee and doughnuts. There's just something so elegantly soothing about piano keys as you tuck into frittatas. Sage Kitchen + Bar is now offering a chic, family-friendly brunch option for Bolingbrookers. Available Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., brunch contains eclectic morning comforts such as short rib hash with Parmesan and truffle oil; frittatas studded with bacon, asparagus, goat cheese, and sun-dried tomatoes; and crab Benedicts awash with Tabasco hollandaise. To drink, brunch beverages include Bloody Marys, bellinis, mimosas, Morning 'Ritas made with sparkling wine and margaritas fixins, and a boozy Lavazza coffee option called, appropriately, "A Nutty Coffee Drink." There's also a designated children's menu. And that pianist? They'll be playing on Sundays, along with vocalist Kimberley Johnson.

When it comes to classic brunch flavors, beef brisket isn't the first thing to come to mind. But at Q-BBQ's Lakeview location, they're giving barbecue the brunch treatment with their new weekend brunch menu. Combining two quintessential indulgences, the barbecue brunch spread includes cornbread French toast, brisket burnt ends hash with spicy Brussels sprouts, pulled pork breakfast tacos, and chicken and waffles atop mashed potatoes with spicy smoked maple syrup.
