Halloween Edition: Weekday Planner

Pop-up Halloween Beers at Local Option

Preceding Halloween, Local Option is hosting a pop-up "Helloween" beer event on October 29, featuring a smattering of Michigan-based beers and their respective representatives on-site. Starting at 5:00 p.m., guests are invited to come clad in costume and sip beers such as Founders KBS, Jolly Pumpkin Bam Biere, and Dark Horse Apollo.

Harvest Dinner Series at The Winchester

The only thing better than the seasonal, wholesome simplicities of The Winchester is three courses of it. The restaurant is now offering weekly three-course vegetarian tasting menus every Tuesday, featuring a designated menu each month to best showcase the seasonal bounty. The current roster features cheese curd and cabbage dumplings with daikon, sweet potato, and roasted tomato sichuan sauce; udon noodles with bok choy, black garlic, and smoked mushroom dashi; and coconut rice puddng with apple and pear yuzu jelly. The tasting is available starting at 5:00 p.m. and costs $29 per person.

La Madia
(Happy birthday, La Madia!)

La Madia Turns Seven

River North's venerable La Madia just turned lucky number seven this month, and in honor of the occasion, the restaurant is giving back with $7 chef's luncheons the rest of the month. This ideal weekday meal includes either a cup of soup or a mixed greens salad along with your choice of pizza. Select from pies such as housemade fennel sausage and sweet onion, seasonal wild mushroom, or carbonara adorned with guanciale, egg, and melted leeks.

GăGé Marketplace at bellyQ

Traverse the South Korean markets without ever leaving the West Loop on October 27, as bellyQ hosts its GăGé marketplace event. The monthly event, a sprawling assemblage of cultural wares, food, and music, takes place from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and is free to attend. Expect artisan jewelry, clothing, art, and other provisions, along with food from bellyQ and Urban Belly, and a DJ set by Selly the Kid.
