Weekend Planner: Fourth of July Edition

Alcohol Dependence Day

Here's a fun way to celebrate American independence: by bolstering your dependence on alcohol. In honor of our rights to freedom and booze, Local Option is tapping a plethora of beers on July 4, including a bevy of rarities from the likes of Evil Twin, Hoppin’ Frog, Maine Beer Co., Hitachino, and Tilquin. All beers are tapped at 3:00 p.m.

Red, White, and Blue at Municipal Bar + Dining Co.

There are few things as quintessentially American as fried chicken. Which is why you should want to dine at Municipal Bar + Dining Co. on July 4 to partake in their fried chicken with red, white, and blue dipping sauces. To match, the bar and restaurant is offering a special red, white, and blue "Municipal Mule" flight, featuring re-imagined versions of Moscow Mules.

Municipal
(Municipal Bar + Dining Co.'s holiday specials go red, white, and blue)

Patriotic Ice Cream Specials at Jove T.'s Ice Cream Shop

In honor of Independence Day, Jove T.'s Ice Cream shop shifts in a patriotic direction for its weekly flavor specials. Running every Friday from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. through August 20, the ice cream shop is a pop-up concept from David Burke's Primehouse pastry chef Jove T. Hubbard, serving up seasonally inspired ice creams at the Primehouse Bar. For the Fourth, flavors are strawberry shortcake made with strawberry ice cream, shortcake, whipped cream, and roasted strawberries, along with blueberries and cream ice cream made with blueberry sorbet, vanilla bean ice cream, and butter streusel.

Fourth of July Specials With a Mexican Accent

Considering the huge Mexican population in the U.S., Mercadito makes the perfect outlet for an eclectic Fourth of July fete. Especially considering their holiday specials: Mexican bacon-wrapped hot dogs with pico de gallo, jalapeno relish, mayo, mustard, ketchup, and crispy bacon; and the El Patriota cocktail featuring Rhum JM, St-Germain, lemon, agave nectar, strawberries, and blueberries.
