Green City Market Junior Board Brings Back Meet the Market Series

The Green City Market Junior Board is prepared to kickstart this season's Meet the Market series at Kinmont, featuring passed appetizers, cocktails, and the most delicious ingredient of all, Junior Board members. The Junior Board serves to engage young professionals through programs within the Green City Market community while helping raise funds for the market, and the Meet the Market events provide a fun outlet for such.

Meet the Market

This year, there are only a few Meet the Markets, making each one as precious as the eponymous ring in Lord of the Rings. The first is at Kinmont from 6:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18. It will include passed appetizers featuring Mick Klug Farm, one of the perpetual favorites for produce at Green City Market. There will also be booze provided by New Holland, the official sponsor of the 2014 Meet the Market series, and presentations from the enthusiastic Junior Board members. Appetizers are complimentary, while proceeds from each cocktail benefit the Green City Market. Weeknight drinking has never felt so altruistic.

While we're at it, here's a little more intel about the market in general: Green City Market is a 501 (c) (3) not for profit organization designed to serve as a destination for sustainable, seasonal, and local food, while educating the public and connecting farmers to the local restaurant industry. So basically, a win-win-win situation, taking place every Wednesday and Saturday from 7:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in Lincoln Park at Clark and Lincoln. During the colder months, the market resides indoors at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum.
