Weekend Planner: Easter Edition

Adult Easter Egg Hunt

The 4th Annual Easter Egg Hunt hosted by Longman & Eagle and Land & Sea Dept. is beginning to become as much a part of Easter traditions as rabbits with a proclivity for breaking and entering. The fest gets underway at 11:00 a.m. on Easter Sunday, launching from Longman & Eagle with food, drinks, and DJ sets. A donation of $5 is suggested per team of two, and each team has the potential to win Easter egg baskets chock full of goodies from the likes of Lula Cafe, Provenance, Wolfbait, and other Logan Square staples. RSVP to rsvp@landandseadept.com.

Easter Lunch at Embeya

Brunch gets all the glory when it comes to Easter dining, so kudos to Embeya for thinking outside the mimosa with its three-course, eight-dish Easter lunch. All dishes are served family-style, as it should be for Easter feasting. The spread includes first courses of marinated green mango with chile-poached prawns, mint, and coriander; and spring lamb tartare with lotus root, lettuce, and lemongrass. Entree plates include seafood stew, veal cheeks, asparagus with Vietnamese bacon, and fried rice. For dessert there's creme puffs with matcha and vanilla, plus mango sticky rice. The cost is $39 per person.

Easter Eats at Tavern on Rush

For Easter eats without the fuss of prix fixe menus, Tavern on Rush is just the ticket. The restaurant is featuring a slew of a la carte specials for brunch and dinner. In the morning, options include bone-in ham steak and eggs, spring vegetable frittata, grilled Colorado lamb loin, and asparagus and Brie quiche. Starting at 3:00 p.m., dinner specials include filet mignon and griddled crab cake, grilled Hawaiian swordfish steak, and coconut cream cake.

Go Old-School at Volare

One of the best bargains in Chicago this Easter can be found at Volare. The classic Italian haunt is serving up five-course brunch menus for $25.95 per person. Putting a comforting Italian twist on the usual spread of lamb and asparagus, Volare's offerings include calamari fritti, Bloody Mary soup, salmon frittata, vegetable lasagna, prime rib, and mascarpone semifreddo.
