Burgers and Baseball

Regardless of how much or how little you care for baseball, there's one thing we can all agree about: baseball signifies the onset of spring and that's a delicious thing. So opening day games merit celebration, if for no other reason than the fact that winter is over and warmer weather is upon us. Restaurants are honoring opening day in style with burgers, because few things pair with America's signature sport quite like America's signature guilty pleasure. DMK Burger Bar and III Forks are both rolling out the beef patties for baseball season this year.

(Dunn Burger at III Forks)

To celebrate the Chicago Cubs' home opener at Wrigley Field on April 4, DMK Burger Bar is serving up a special burger called The Real #10. Named for the jersey number of Chicago Cubs' Ron Santo, the burger is topped with Italian beef, fontina cheese, housemade giardiniera, and a side of au jus for dipping. The burger costs $10 and will be available on home game days for the Cubs throughout their entire season.

On the south side, the White Sox get their own inspired burger creation, this one courtesy of III Forks. Dubbed the Dunn Burger for White Sox first baseman Adam Dunn, the burger is comprised of a 16-ounce USDA Prime burger, three-year Hooks Wisconsin sharp cheddar, Raisin River slab bacon, and a side of fries. The hefty creation costs $24.95 a pop, available with optional supplements of fried egg and/or seared foie gras. A new addition to the restaurant's bar bites menu, the burger is an ideal beefy fixture for baseball season.
