Weekday Planner: Chowdah Fest, Springtime Tea, Burger Birthday, and Bub City Sports Specials

Weekday Planner: Chowdah Fest 2014

It takes a special kind of soup to get its own festival. Chowder is that soup. Before the weather takes a turn towards guilt-inducing bathingsuit season, fill up on chowder from a slew of competing chefs and restaurants on March 31 at the Columbia Yacht Club of Chicago. More than a dozen different varieties of chowder will be on hand for saline feasting, cooked by the likes of Da Lobsta, Acadia, Telegraph, and Billy Sunday. Judges for the event are Ina Pinkney, Lynn House, and Jimmy Bannos Sr. The event kicks off at 6:30 p.m. and costs $55 per person. Tickets can be purchased here.

Weekday Planner: Aftertoon Spring Tea at The Langham

Get those pinkies raised, because springtime tea is in the air at The Langham. A new selection of teas and tea-adjacent snacks takes the stage at The Langham hotel's Pavilion Lounge, featuring a lustruous array of snacks prepared by executive chef Anthony Zamora and pastry chef Scott Green. Expect edible flowers and rosy hues galore. The cost for this dainty, vivid affair is $40 per person and the springtime arrangement is available through May 31. Reservations for afternoon tea are available for 3:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m., or 5:30 p.m. seatings.

Weekday Planner: Burger Boss Turns Three

Wish a very happy burger birthday to Burger Boss, because the suburban-based burger shop is turning the big three. In honor of this beefy feat, both Burger Boss locations are doling out burgers for three dollars from now through April 6. The special third birthday burger features an Angus beef patty heaped with lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup, mustard, and mayo on a brioche bun.

Weekday Planner: Sports Specials at Bub City

With Major League Baseball back in season and March Madness at its manic apex, it's high time for sports fever. And there's no better remedy for said fever than Cracker Jacks, beer, and chicken specials at Bub City. In honor of baseball home openers this week, the River North barbecue bastion is serving up complimentary Cracker Jacks and $20 Old Style buckets on March 31, plus $20 buckets of Budweiser cans on April 4. In basketball news, Bub City is offering $5 cinnamon shots and $8 General Joe's chicken on Thursdays and Fridays for all the college basektball hoopla.
