Weekend Planner: Troquet Oscar Party, Doughnut Birthday, Tasting Menus, and Carnival at Nacional 27

Oscar Party at Troquet

In honor of the 86th annual Academy Awards, Troquet is rolling out several Oscar-themed cocktails and opening up award predictions for guests. Available for $6 each, cocktails include The Oscar made with vodka, creme de cacoa, coffee liqueur, gold flakes, and Champagne; American Hustler made with peach-infused vodka, Triple Sec, and Champagne; The Wolf of Wolcott, featuring whiskey, Amaretto, lemon juice, and a sugar cube; and the Dallas Drinkers Club with tequila, orange juice, and a sugar cube. Additionally, guests in attendance on March 2 will be able to fill out a form with their Oscar predictions. Whoever makes the most correct guesses wins a $20 gift certificate.

Do-Rite Donuts Turns Two

No better way to celebrate a second birthday than with a two-day celebration of gratis doughnuts. Such is the course of action at Do-Rite Donuts. As the doughnut shop turns two, it's hosting a two-day birthday party on Saturday and Sunday, doling out a free doughnut to customers who make any purchase. The merriment takes place each day from 7:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Tasting Menus at Table, Donkey and Stick

Tasting menus are now available at Table, Donkey and Stick Sundays through Thursdays, so kick it off this weekend with either a five-course affair or an eight-courser. The former goes for $45 while the latter is $70. The a la carte menu is still available. For reservations, call 773-486-8525 or visit their website.

Carnival at Nacional 27

Since it's a little tricky to jet off to Brazil right now, Nacional 27 is the next best thing for all your Carnival revelry needs. Their celebration runs from February 27 through March 1, featuring a cadre of live entertainment, Brazilian drinks, and half-priced tapas in the lounge on Thursday and Friday. Drink specials include a Brazilian flight consisting of a blood orange caipirinha, a Royce passion fruit cocktail, and something called "at the beach," which bodes well. Hurricanes are also on deck.
