A Very Meaty Valentine's Day

When it comes to Valentine's Day festivities and traditions, it's all too easy to get sucked into the vortex of candy hearts and formulaic chocolates, beckoned by the siren of the incessant holiday-hungry grocery stores. Candy hearts and chocolates are well and good, but something sure to leave a more indelible mark on your romantic holiday is some beef heart. So right after Cupid spears you through the chest, go "Eat Your Heart Out" for an evening of carnivorous delights at Chop Shop on February 15.

Eat Your Heart Out

Eat Your Heart Out is hosted in conjunction with Red Meat Market and CHIRP Radio, who along with Chop Shop, team up to celebrate sustainable butchery and the "heartiest" of organ meats. Nothing more romantic than that. The event runs from 6:00 p.m. until midnight, and features all sorts of meaty revelry, including butchering, comedy, live music, cocktails, and more. Butchers will demonstrate their knife skills on a pig, goat, lamb, and cow, and because butchery just makes people want to dance, three bands will be playing throughout the night. Dishes to be served include lamb sausage, goat skewers, pulled pork sliders, and beef meatballs, along with the aforementioned beef heart of course. All meat is locally pastred and sourced.

The ticket price of $50 includes two drinks and samplings from each animal. Snag your tickets here.
