Booze, Cocoa, and Gigantic Candy Canes at These Holiday Parties

Holiday parties are a lot more fun when gourmet chocolate and beers are involved. Rather than squabble with family antics this season (plenty of time for that later), get in on the merry festivities at one of these crafty shindigs.

The holidays are all about family and being thankful. Scratch that, they’re more about chocolate and overindulgence. Which is why the Christmas event at the All Chocolate Kitchen in Geneva is this season’s Mecca. Acclaimed pastry chef and Guinness World Record-holder Alain Roby will celebrate the one-year anniversary of his world’s largest candy cane creation on Saturday, December 7, with the debut of a smaller 10-foot replica of the 51-foot behemoth. The candy cane gets unveiled at 6:00 p.m., followed by an appearance by Santa himself at 7:00 p.m., riding in on a custom Harley Davidson no less. The candy cane will be broken with a golden hammer into tiny bits for all to enjoy, along with hot apple cider.

Champagne and hot chocolate are two of the season’s most ubiquitous beverages, and they converge for a special shindig at TipsyCake on December 21. The Bucktown bakery gets in the jolly spirit with complimentary bubbly and cocoa, along with carolers and a photographer to capture the merriment.

In case you’re all sugared out, The Bar on Buena keeps it simple and boozy with a beer-themed holiday bash on December 12. The event celebrates Stone Brewing’s Vertical Epic Series, wherein the Uptown bar will tap a year-old barrel, along with barrels that have been aging since 11/11/11 and 10/10/10. It’s a beer vertical miracle! It all goes down at 7:00 p.m.
