A Night of Charity at Parliament
Restaurants and bars continue to come together in support of the Philippines in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan. The latest is Parliament, the thumping new nightlife hotspot on the upper edge of River North, hosting a charity event Friday, November 22, with the help of Brody Jenner, Jon Cotay, and Matt Deichl. Doors open at 9:00 p.m., hearts open at the same time. A portion of the proceeds from the evening go towards the recovery efforts in the Philippines.
Free Mozzarella Sticks!
When you string the words "free mozzarella sticks" together, angels sing. It's a happy occasion indeed as Roots Handmade Pizza prepares to give away 300 free mini oreders of its famed mozzarella sticks this Saturday, November 23, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. The deep-fried delights are doled out from Roots' exterior walkup kitchen window along Winchester Avenue. The event marks the second in a series of lavish giveaways for The Fifty/50 Restaurant Group, as a celebration of its sixth year in business. In September, West Town Bakery handed out 500 free doughssants. Stay tuned for the next giveaway!

Spend an Evening with Y.O.U.
Cuisine, cocktails, and art come together Saturday, November 23, for a special event curated by the likes of Under the Table and FEW Spirits. It's called An Evening with Y.O.U., hosted by the Evanston Social Action Council in partnership with Youth Organization Umbrella, Inc. (Y.O.U.), and it takes place at Loft 644 in River North. The quasi-underground restaurant Under the Table provides the appetizers and small plates, while cocktails come from FEW and beers from the likes of Tiger Beers and Estrella Damn. There will also be live music, a silent auction, a pop-up art gallery, and other fun fare. The fundraiser benefits Y.O.U. and the Evanston youth community, so feel free to eat and drink the night away for a good cause! Tickets are $50 and can be purchased here.
Game Day Sundays at ZED451
No better way to get into the game day spirit than with $5 wings and $5 beers. It's all going down every Sunday at ZED451 from 10:00 a.m. until midnight in the fireside lounge. The dry-rubbed, fire-grilled chicken wings are exemplary, accompanied by three dipping sauces including hoisin BBQ, blue cheese dressing, and sweet Thai chile sauce. For beer, expect a comprehensive list of local craft brews and imported options. Of course, ZED's jumbo projection screen makes for the perfect backdrop.
