Stuff Your Stockings and Your Mouths

The holiday season is upon us, whether you're willing to believe it or not. Embrace it. The idea is a lot easier to swallow when it's accompanied by pastries. Lill Studio at 900 N. Michigan Ave. is hosting a pre-holiday stocking shindig this Wednesday, November 13, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Design your own stockings at 30% off while enjoying complimentrary sweet and savory pastries from Toni Patisserie and Cafe. Plus some bubbly, because it's ok to be a little bit naughty.

Meatballs Just Like Mom Makes

Nothing says cozy comfort quite like a big ol' plate of spaghetti and meatballs made by mom. Especially when the "mom" is actually a chef who can probably cook circles around any matriarch (sorry). Every Thursday night is "mom's spaghetti and meatballs" night at J. Rocco, The Bar, the upstairs portion of the Italian restaurant. So there isn't actually a mom here making the food, but it's the homey thought that counts. The meatballs are a recipe of chef Steve Chiappetti, though the sauce comes from a recipe from owner Joseph Frasca's mom. Aww. For just $8 per heaping plate, guests can select one of Chiappetti's meatball options, including beef, pork, lamb, shrimp, and even chickpea for vegetarians.

Slurp Your Way Through Urbanbelly 2.0

Urbanbelly, the longstanding noodle juggernaut in Avondale, begins a new era on Randolph Street. The restaurant is now open adjacent to bellyQ, closing its original location to make way for the modern confines of Restaurant Row, complete with an amplified menu. The stunner of a space sports menu favorites such as Urbanbelly ramen, pork dumplings, and kimchi stew, along with a new stir-fry menu section filled out with beef brisket and pad Thai. The new space also comes with a new beverage program, including Japanese beer, wine on tap, and sake.
