Brunch Bites: New Bargain Brunch Series at Under the Table, Specials at Kanela

Brunch in Chicago is always full of surprises. One day you might be enjoying a multi-course under-the-radar brunch from a pop-up restaurant in Evanston, and the next you might be binging on free monkey bread in Old Town.

Under the Table is currently offering a special deal via Gilt City for its brunch menu. The clandestine pop-up restaurant, currently situated at Company in Evanston, strives to serve fine dining caliber cuisine in a casual, offbeat setting, all at accessible prices. The restaurant does dinner service as well, but brunch is fun way to try out their progressive wares. The current deal, available through September 11, allows customers to purchase a brunch ticket for $49, which includes a five-course brunch with a mimosa flight. That's a damn good deal. Check out the Gilt City deal here.

Evidently September is National Breakfast Month, which means you need to put down the shoddy granola bar and pay due respect to the morning meal. For instance, if you head to Kanela Breakfast Club, you can enjoy complimentary monkey bread all month long. Well, Monday through Friday anyway. Don't be ridiculous. Guests dining at either Kanela location need only mention the monkey bread offer to enjoy the spoils of the cinnamon-y, honey buttered treat. The offer is good for one per person per table. Then on National Coffee Day on September 29 (aka Caffeine Christmas), Kanela will dole out complimentary cups of Julius Meinl coffee when guests purchase the loukoumades, Greek doughnuts with lemon honey and toasted walnuts.
