Award recognizes the top 10 clean eateries of Oak Park

 

The award is named for Oak Park’s first lunchroom, the Johnson Restaurant, 124 Lake St., which operated in the 1890s.

The 10 winners were chosen from 79 eligible restaurants, based on scores from 45-point inspection surveys, out of more than 200 foodservice establishments the Oak Park Public Health Department inspects every year.

The winning eateries accomplish some of the most complex aspects of foodservice and meal preparation, including cooking, cooling, reheating and serving, while adhering to the standards mandated by the state foodservice sanitation code.
