Olive Oil Dinner at Ceres' Table

It's not everyday you encounter an oil-themed dinner. But leave it to Ceres' Table to infuse pure class into such an event, serving up an olive oil dinner on April 25 as part of their Last Thursdays events. Every last Thursday of the month, chef Giuseppe Scurato curates a special theme menu, and for his April degustation, he's showcasing olive oils from City Olive in Roscoe Village and Edgewater. City Olive proprietor Karen Rose has selected olive oils to pair with each of Scurato's five courses.

(Sunny Olive cocktail)

The dinner kicks off with an olive-tastic bang, with a Sunny Olive cocktail and a side of olive oil-cured olives. Next is Nantucket Bay scallop crudo, marinated in olive oil, lemon, and chervil, followed by chilled spaghetti and salmon caviar with garlic, parsley, extra virgin olive oil, and Skuna Bay ikura, aka salmon roe. It's not a party until someone poaches filet mignon in olive oil, and Scurato is doing just that for his next course, serving it with black truffle zabaglione and sea salted shoestring potatoes. For dessert, olive oil chocolate molten cake with olive oil and black pepper whipped cream.
