The Secret to Great Sushi [2008-07-21]
By: Kira Coplin & Kara Kulhanek

No longer a unique treat, sushi can be found everywhere – just peruse the aisles of your neighborhood grocery store. In fact, the word ‘sushi’ refers to the simple preparation of using wasabi, seaweed and seasoned/vinegar rice.

"Before it was a trend, it was an art."

Northern Exposure: Cool Climate Wines Back in Spotlight [2008-07-21]
By: Alan J. Shannon

When we picture vineyards, our minds typically conjure up Mediterranean vistas replete with sun-kissed slopes, maybe the sea, and perhaps even the spiky top of a palm tree or two rising in the distance. The fact is that some of the most famous wine-producing regions in the world are not situated along the steep hillsides of Tuscany or nestled into the chalky soil of Provence. ...more>>

Recession-proof Restaurants [2008-10-07]
By: Leah A. Zeldes

They tell us we're in a recession. Gas prices are up. House-sale prices are down. Layoffs loom. Scary as that sounds, though, if you're eyeing your bank balance with a view toward scaling back on expenses, look for other cuts rather than your food budget.

After all, you've got to keep your strength up. And your morale. Do your part for the economy and go out to eat.

The David Leonardis Report #4 [2008-11-06]
By: David Leonardis

Hi Folks,

Seems like it was only a few weeks ago and the whole town was waiting for a sure thing. The CUBS in the World Series. Well the other night some other team won that honor. If you recall my last column I said I wasn't going to even mention the now winners of the series and true to my word I'm not going to. Which brings us to the next thing the whole town is assuming will be a sure thing. Barack Obama will win the United States Presidency. I'm going to go out on a limb again and say that is one assumption that will actually come true. I did my part and voted in Georgia. Maybe my vote will swing a once Red State into the direction this Country desperately needs. A Democratic Ideology. Some people shy away from Politics in public but a new dialogue is needed in my opinion....more>>

A Brunch for all Tastes [2008-07-21]

Hey, everyone’s got to eat, so we’ve rounded up some of our favorite places for buffets, a la carte, expensive, cheap, fancy, chilled-out, meat heavy, veggie and just all-around cool. ...more>>
